🔥 Our VG-10 steel core is a premium stainless steel manufactured in Fukui, Japan. Its high carbon content (approximately 1% to 1.2%) gives VG-10 exceptional hardness and edge retention.
🔥 Our Damascus steel consists of different types of steel with very special material properties. Both soft and hard types of steel are welded together to create an exceptionally tough and hard material.
🔥 The composite steel is then heated to red hot in a furnace and pressed and forged together inseparably by hammer blows.
🔥 In a further step, 33 layers of forged Damascus steel are inseparably joined with Japanese VG-10 core steel on each side of the blade under heat and hammer blows.
🔥 Careful final polishing with chalk gives the Damascus steel its unforgettable sheen.
🔥 Our Damascus knives are NOT etched, so you can enjoy them for a lifetime with consistent aesthetics.
🔥 A radiantly shimmering surface whose artistic Damascus structure comes to life in relief when the light plays on it.

A good knife is a tool. A special knife becomes a companion.
SKeld® stands for exceptional materials, precise cutting performance, and the joy of holding something special in your hands.
Our name also conveys this idea:
SELD is linguistically derived from “seldom”—referring to what is rare and special. ✨
KELD evokes Old Norse and stands for “source” or “origin”—for nature, authenticity, and durability. 🌿
From these two concepts, SKeld® was born:
This connection is reflected in our knives. VG10 core steel and 67 layers of Damascus steel meet three distinctive handle materials:
🌳 Olive wood—warm, natural, and unique thanks to its individual grain.
🤍 Howlite—extraordinary and elegant with natural gray and black veins.
⚫ G10—modern, robust, and clean in appearance.
As different as the materials may be, they all follow the same idea: to combine nature, precision, and design.
We believe that exceptional Damascus knives don’t have to be overpriced.
That’s why we combine high-quality materials, meticulous craftsmanship, and timeless design with fair prices—for knives that will accompany you not just today, but for many years to come.
❤️ Because a knife is more than just steel and a handle.
It’s part of the moments that arise while cooking: while preparing, while enjoying, and while spending time together.
17 cm Damascus Nakiri Knife by SKeld® with an exceptional white howlite handle for precise and controlled cuts of vegetables, herbs, and many other ingredients. The VG10 Damascus blade with 67 layers of Damascus steel combines exceptional edge retention with an elegant, shiny silver appearance and a subtly visible Damascus pattern.
This Damascus Nakiri Knife is a traditionally Japanese-inspired vegetable knife and is ideal for slicing, chopping, and preparing vegetables. The straight cutting edge allows for particularly controlled cutting and makes the Nakiri a versatile companion for everyday kitchen work.
A particularly eye-catching feature is the white howlite handle with natural gray and black veining. This natural mineral gives each knife a unique, almost marble-like appearance. Combined with the shiny silver-colored Damascus blade, the result is an extraordinary Damascus kitchen knife that blends functionality with elegant design.
✨ The knife is new and unused and is suitable for both daily use and as a special gift for discerning kitchen enthusiasts.
🔪 17 cm Damascus blade – Japanese VG10 core steel with a total of 67 layers of Damascus
🥕 Ideal as a vegetable knife – perfect for vegetables, herbs, and precise cuts
📐 Straight edge – enables controlled cutting and fine chopping
⚔️ VG10 core steel – known for its long-lasting sharpness and good corrosion resistance
✨ Silver-colored polished blade – meticulously polished with a subtly visible Damascus pattern
🤍 Howlite handle – white natural mineral with unique gray & black veining
✋ Balanced handling – approx. 294 g weight for comfortable use in the kitchen
🛡️ Includes a white ABS blade guard – with an inner lining for safe blade storage
At the center of the blade is high-quality Japanese VG10 core steel. This steel is prized for its excellent edge retention and corrosion resistance and forms the high-performance foundation of this Damascus nakiri knife.
On either side of the VG10 core, 33 layers of Damascus steel made from various hard and tough steel grades are forged together. Together with the VG10 core, this creates a 67-layer Damascus blade.
The blade is then meticulously polished. This gives the 17 cm nakiri knife its elegant, silvery, and shiny appearance, while the fine Damascus pattern remains subtly visible.
The handle of this Damascus knife is made of white howlite with natural gray to black veins. This naturally occurring mineral is known for its characteristic, almost marble-like appearance and is used, among other things, in jewelry as well as high-quality art and craftwork.
For this special knife handle, the natural howlite is stabilized and refined using high-quality synthetic resin. This creates a waterproof, moisture- and chemical-resistant bond that makes the handle exceptionally stable, sturdy, and durable.
The natural veining is preserved, making every howlite handle a one-of-a-kind piece. Since the natural vein structure and coloration vary from handle to handle, the appearance of the knife you receive may differ from the handles shown in the product images.
The contrast between the shiny silver Damascus blade and the white natural mineral with its fine dark veins makes each of these Nakiri knives a real eye-catcher.
The Nakiri is a traditional Japanese vegetable knife and was specifically designed for precise cuts of vegetables and other ingredients.
Thanks to the straight cutting edge, the blade rests almost entirely on the cutting board while cutting. This allows you to cut and finely chop vegetables with exceptional control—without the typical rocking motion of a classic chef’s knife.
The compact, wide blade offers excellent control and is particularly well-suited for quick, clean cuts during daily ingredient preparation.
🥕 Ideal for onions, carrots, bell peppers, cabbage, zucchini, herbs, and much more.
🔥 Our philosophy at SKeld®: High-quality Damascus knives don’t have to be overpriced—we combine quality, design, and fair prices.
🩹 Our nakiri knife comes with a white ABS blade guard featuring an inner fleece lining!
Convenient for storage and protection against injuries.

Where Sharpness Becomes Art
An extraordinary natural material with an equally remarkable history. Its natural coloration and unique texture make each handle a one-of-a-kind piece.
Howlite originates from Nova Scotia, Canada. The mineral was scientifically described there in 1868 near Windsor by Henry How, a Canadian chemist, geologist, and mineralogist.
How originally named the mineral “silicoborocalcite.” Shortly thereafter, it was named Howlite in honor of its discoverer.
Howlite is characterized by its light, usually white base color with natural gray or dark veining. Since these patterns vary from piece to piece, each natural specimen has its own unique character.
The exact geographical location where howlite was first discovered is near Windsor in Nova Scotia, Canada. That is where the mineral was first scientifically described. Additional howlite deposits have also been documented in Nova Scotia, including near Wentworth, Green Creek, and at Bras d'Or Lake on Cape Breton Island.
Other known deposits are found in California and Nevada, as well as in Mexico, Serbia, and Turkey. Geologically, howlite is often found in association with gypsum and anhydrite deposits.
It is typically characterized by its natural, mostly white to light-colored appearance with individual gray or dark veins. Howlite frequently occurs in massive or nodular forms—it is precisely this natural structure that becomes visible when polished, making each piece a unique natural material.
Today, howlite is valued primarily as a decorative natural material because of its distinctive appearance. Among other things, it is crafted into jewelry, beads, polished gemstones, and decorative objects, and is also sought after by mineral collectors.
Polishing brings out the natural light base color and the unique gray to dark veining particularly well. Each piece has its own unique pattern and thus an unmistakable appearance.
Howlite is also well-suited for special design objects due to its natural appearance.
🪨 Natural mineral with a distinctive structure
Howlite is a naturally occurring mineral from the borate group. Its light to white base color and natural gray to dark veins give it its unmistakable character.
🛡️ Stabilized and refined for the knife handle
For this special knife handle, natural howlite is stabilized and finished with high-quality synthetic resin. This results in a particularly sturdy and durable handle with high resistance to moisture and the stresses typical of everyday kitchen use.
✋ Naturally unique
The natural veining and coloration vary with each piece of howlite. This makes every handle one-of-a-kind. The appearance of the actual knife you receive may therefore differ from the product images in terms of veining and color.
✨ Nature Meets Damascus
The contrast between the shiny, silver-colored Damascus blade and the white howlite with its fine dark veins gives the White Series its distinctive look. This transforms a functional kitchen knife into an extraordinary design piece.
From the natural beauty of the material to the finished knife handle—at SKeld®, the character of the material is intentionally incorporated into the design.
